Cross-section of waterproofing under tiling on a terrace

PS-PUA-05 / Engineered System

PolyShield Concealed Deck

Covered waterproofing under tiles and terrace structures

An elastic 2K waterproofing system that is inspected and documented before it is covered.

What this system was developed for

A clear project role, not a universal coating.

APPLICATION

Balconies and terraces

Under tiling

Stage decks

Wet outdoor areas

SUBSTRATE

Concrete

Cement screed

Suitable repair mortar

PROJECT VALUE

Waterproofing designed separately from visible finish

Fast membrane route possible

Details visible before covering

Suitable for renovation and new construction

DIRECT TECHNISCH ANTWOORD / PS-PUA-05

When is this route promising?

When waterproofing under tiles or a terrace finish, tiles and joints do not form the primary water barrier. The 2K membrane, slope, details, adhesive layer and movement joints must be designed as one compatible structure

PS-PUA-05 / interactive system build-up

See what every system layer does.

Separate the layers, select a function and see which control point and project evidence belong to the next work phase. This visual is a technical selection framework, not a universal installation detail.

Illustrative system build-up.The final primer, layer thickness, reinforcement, finish and application follow from substrate assessment and current technical documentation.

Complete system construction

Each layer has one controllable function.

The structure shown is a selection frame. Primer, layer thickness, consumption and details are only finalized after inspection, test surface and document check.

Frequently asked technical questions

Short answer, clear line of evidence.

Aren't tiles and grout already waterproof?+

No. They form a utility finish; the reliable primary waterproofing is in the designed membrane layer below.

Can the finish be placed immediately after application?+

Only after the prescribed curing, checking and release of the selected structure.

Are dilations simply overcoated?+

No. Structural joints must be able to continue to absorb their movement in the complete structure.

Details

When detail reinforcement is needed

Geotextiles strengthen selected transitions, but do not replace a structural joint or damage assessment.

Attachment

Why a primer is not an afterthought

The primer function depends on the substrate, porosity, moisture and the chosen membrane technology.
