Concrete underground structure prepared for waterproofing
WD-05 · WATERPROOFING PER BUILDING PART

PolyShield Waterproofing

Protect foundations and underground walls in a watertight manner

Turn water on the outside before the structure is replenished and becomes inaccessible.

Technical context

First recognize the building part and the load.

Underground waterproofing must be correct before covering. Pour joints, penetrations, bilges, cracks, groundwater loads and mechanical protection are therefore recorded in one detailed plan.

Problem · cause · solution

From visible defect to substantiated system route.

01 / VISIBLE

Common problems

  • Damp cellar wall
  • Leaking pour seams
  • Water via floor-wall connection
  • Damage during filling
  • Unreachable details after delivery
02 / INVESTIGATIONS

Possible causes

  • Missing outer seal
  • Cracks or insufficient compaction
  • Incorrectly developed penetrations
  • High groundwater or rainwater load
  • Protective layer missing or damaged
03 / RESOLVED

Complete system choice

Substrate, primer, details, membrane, protection and evidence are recorded as one project-specific structure.

Business added value

What the right waterproofing protects or saves.

01

Building on the water side

An outer seal prevents water from having to first migrate through the structure.

02

Seamless details

Gums, penetrations and irregular shapes are included in one membrane.

03

Check before covering

The system can be inspected before protection and ground package follow.

System selection

Primarily promising, then technically confirmed.

The maps show a system direction. The final variant results from inspection, test adhesion and current technical documentation.

SUITABLE SUBSTRATES
  • Concrete
  • Cement-based repair mortar
  • Suitable masonry after leveling
TECHNICAL CHECK FIRST
  • Distinguish positive and negative water side
  • Project-specific detailing of cracks and joints
  • Protect membrane before topping up
  • Drainage is not a substitute for waterproofing
NOT AS A STANDARD ROUTE
  • Enclose wet or insufficiently load-bearing surfaces
  • Unknown layers without compatibility check
  • Only cover structural defects with coating
  • Performance claims without appropriate system documentation

From recording to delivery

Four steps that make the system controllable.

  1. 01

    Water tax

Groundwater, soil, drainage and construction details are assessed.

  2. 02

    Recovery

Gravel nests, cracks, pour joints and penetrations are prepared.

  3. 03

    Membrane

Primer and waterproofing are applied according to the detailed plan.

  4. 04

    Protect

Mechanical protection and replenishment procedure are coordinated.

Frequently asked questions

For a targeted first project decision.

Can a cellar also be treated from the inside?

Sometimes, but that is another technical route under negative water pressure. The cause and construction determine what is responsible.
