When coating can make sense
Renovation with a liquid membrane is interesting when the majority of the roof structure is stable and problems mainly lie on the surface or in repairable details.
This can reduce waste, transportation and execution time. The savings are not created by skipping preparation, but because technically useful parts are retained.
- Stable existing roof layer
- No bulky wet insulation
- Recoverable details
- Demonstrable compatibility
- Appropriate remaining useful life
When replacement is likely to be stronger
Large-scale detachment, wet insulation, structurally insufficient slope or an unstable multi-layer structure may require complete or partial replacement.
Planned renovations, new insulation requirements or many new installations can also make integral renovation more logical.
Compare the total project scope
Don't just compare the price of the visible membrane. Include preparation, accessibility, repair, disposal, insulation, details, maintenance and expected useful life.
An inspection can also lead to a hybrid route: local replacement and targeted coating of the stable remaining roof.
This explanation is general and does not constitute project-specific system advice. Subsurface investigation, tax and official system documentation remain decisive.
