The existing structure must be able to function as a basis

A liquid membrane follows the existing surface. If the surface is loose, saturated or has insufficient cohesion, a new layer cannot solve the underlying problem.

That is why responsible renovation advice starts with research into adhesion, moisture, seams, details, drainage and structural condition.

Signals that make renovation possible

  • The existing roof covering is stable and sufficiently secured.
  • The insulation and construction show no indications of large-scale moisture exposure.
  • Local cracks, seams and details can be repaired.
  • The slope and drainage are technically manageable.
  • The surface can be suitably cleaned and primed.
Important

Pooling requires a system that is demonstrably suitable for the expected water load. A generic claim of “waterproof” is not sufficient for this.

When coating is not the first step

In case of wet insulation, extensive blistering, loose roofing membranes, structural leakage in the structure or structural damage, repair or replacement must first be investigated.

What PolyShield checks during the inspection

In addition to the roof surface, bilges, upstands, drains, penetrations, attachments and connections are assessed. Application conditions such as temperature, relative humidity and dew point are also part of the quality control.
